Branding is everything when it comes to politics. Generally, you see colors used as part of the party brand (e.g., Red for Republicans and Blue for Democrats). In this case, we are using a number as an identification tag. The number 16 is used whenever possible to denote action on the part of our organization. Visibility will increase as that number appears many times in contribution lists. Imagine a candidate seeing 200 $16 donations. Or perhaps, instead of a $1,000 donation, they receive $999.16 (since $1,000.16 would be over the limit). The constant use of the number 16 will reinforce the perception that the organization has many members. Remember what Andy Warhol said, “Perception precedes reality.”
